General Precautions After Surgery
- Due to gauze compression and swelling after surgery, your urine stream may temporarily spray or split, and you may feel as though some urine remains in the bladder.
- You may experience pain during erections for about 4 to 8 weeks after surgery, and painful erections may also occur during sleep.
- Stitches are usually removed about 7 days after surgery, based on the pubic line. (If circumcision was also performed, they are removed after 14 days.)
- If your penis appears 1–2 cm shorter during erection after surgery, this is considered normal at this stage, and the erect length will gradually recover over time. (Recovery of erect length may take about 6 months, though this varies by individual.)
- If the gauze becomes heavily soaked with urine after surgery, it should be replaced. (For example, if the gauze is wet through.)
- After surgery, smoking and alcohol are allowed after 2 weeks. Sauna, jjimjilbang, bathing, and strenuous exercise are allowed after 4 weeks.
- Showering is allowed only after stitch removal. (If Dermabond was used, showering is possible after 3–4 days.)
- During an erection, you may feel a sudden snapping or pulling sensation in the penis, accompanied by temporary pain.
